"El despertar de las hormigas" is the debut from director Antonella Sudasassi. The story follows a married couple from Costa Rica (Isa and Alcides, played by Daniella Valenciano and Leynar Gómez) with two daughters whose world is shaken up when the father decides he wants another child but the mother disagrees. The film focuses on the character of Isa, who feels trapped in the role she has assumed as woman and mother which clashes with her desires.
